Little White Dress

Happy Friday All!!!  Hubby and I had an early weeknight date this week.  He's been away a lot since we came back from vacation.  Reality....I needed a little alone time with my love sans kiddos!  Vacationing with the kids is fun but it doesn't always leave us time as a couple to connect so date nights are important even if not regular.  We were able to slip out for  few hours and enjoy a nice meal.  Thanks mom & my MIL for making it happen!

I am hanging onto whites as long as I can!  I love this little white Tularosa Elba Dress.  It is soooo comfortable and stylish and can be dressed up or down easily depending on the type of shoe you wear.  This Tularosa Elba Dress is currently on sale but similar ones are here and here.  My wedges I've had forever so I'm linking similar ones here and here.

If you can't get enough of your little white dresses here are some others I'm loving:

Entertain Your Tots in Portland, Maine

We absolutely loved Portland!  I blogged about our Family Road Trip from New York to Maine last week and now I am taking you on a tour of our first stop with the kids.  Portland is only about 1 hour 45 min from Boston where my brothers live so they came to hang with us for the weekend!  Our boys really dig their "Uncewls" (aka Uncles in case you don't understand little kid talk ;).

There are so many great places to eat in Portland, Maine.  We love walking around and finding local places so on our first morning we found Tandem Bakery located in retro building which used to be a dry cleaner.  It was such a unique setting with outdoor and indoor seating not to mention everything we ate or drank was amazing!  We hung out with the kids while figuring out where to go next.

We decided on  Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co & Museum since our boys are obsessed with anything train, car, or truck related...perfect fit.  There is a museum inside the small building near the bay and the antique trains run every hour for about a 45 min train ride along the coast.

The train stopped at a spot near the water so the kids could go up to the front and ring the bell.  The conductor also gave history of the Railroad and Portland which the adults enjoyed as well.

After lunch and a little rest back at the hotel we made our way to Old Orchard Beach which was about a 20 minute drive south of Portland.  This was specifically for the kids since it revolved around the amusement park and rides nestled right on the beach.  We were able to meet some other friends and their young children there as well and the kids all had a blast going on the rides!  Of course my boys were obsessed with all the vehicles!

I would definitely recommend a quick jaunt over to Old Orchard Beach with the kiddos.  They had rides and games for every age.  The beach area was really nice as well with a pier filled with restaurants and places to eat.

Overall, we had a great time in and around Portland, Maine.  The only other place I recommend is Holy Donut!  Yummeeeeeeee!  Sorry...no pictures because we ate them so fast :)

Happy Travels!

Family Road Trip: New York to Maine

Last week we took our annual family road trip!  We started this tradition last year with our 2 boys. We have been avid travelers as a couple and decided that it was a good time to start traveling around the U.S. with our children to see parts we have not yet visited.  Hubby and I have always loved travel and we made a decision not to let children impact our love of visiting and learning about new places!  However, traveling with kids is NOT easy and rather than having "relaxing vacations" as we used to we now have "trips" filled with lots of activity!

I'll be posting more specifics about each place we visited but I wanted to give an overall idea of our route planning.  There are so many routes you can take but we opted for the scenic Route U.S. 1. This definitely took us longer than taking the usual highways but it was well worth the scenery of the picturesque towns and water views as we drove North.

Portland, ME

Our first stop was Portland!  We made this our hub for Southern Maine. It was such a great city with a really fun vibe.  We stayed at The Westin Portland Harborview Hotel which was located toward the center of the city about a 10 minute walk to the harbor.  For us, this was a great hub since we were easily able to walk to the many restaurants near the hotel and they also had a free shuttle that dropped off and picked up guests within a 3 mile radius.

Crescent Beach State Park, Maine
While we were in Portland we took side trips to visit Crescent Beach State Park and Old Orchard Beach. Both places were perfect for children!  The beaches at Crescent State Park were beautiful and the waters calm. Great for the littles!  Old Orchard Beach had a family amusement park feel with rides and a pier.  The boys were in heaven!

You can also easily visit Kennebunkport and Ogonquit while staying in Portland but we saved that for another trip!

U.S. 1 from Portland to Bar Harbor

The drive on U.S. 1 was stunning.  We stopped at the LL Bean Flagship stores in Freeport which is only about 20 min North of Portland.  We could have easily made a day of roaming around Freeport.

The towns surrounding U.S. 1 on the water were picturesque.  We would have liked to stop at more of them however, we were also focused on getting the kids to our destination!

Bucksport, Maine
We took a little break at Fort Knox to let the kids run around while we learned a little history.  The views from Fort Knox were beautiful and the kids had fun playing with the old cannons!

Bar Harbor, ME

Bar Harbor was our next hub.  There was so much to do, see, and eat!  We had an amazing time and spent most of our time here.  We stayed at the Bar Harbor Motel.  The price point, location, and facility itself fit our needs perfectly.  They have an outdoor pool, playground, and breakfast is included. There is also a direct entrance to Acadia National Park at the back of the property.

Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park
Hiking Acadia National Park was on our to do list and it did not disappoint!  There are so many options in Acadia and it does not all involve hiking.  We spent a majority of our days in and around Acadia.

Portsmouth, NH

Our last stop was Portsmouth, New Hampshire!  This cute historic town was a perfect ending to our trip!  We spent some time on land and on sea!  Portsmouth is also so close to beaches and to the Maine boarder so there are so many options for day trips as well.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn Portsmouth Seacoast. This was a little outside the center of the city but it was very easy to get into Portsmouth.  We drove in and parked at a structure close to the water but there is also a shuttle from the hotel as well.

I'll be posting more specifics about each place we visited over the course of the next few weeks!  Be sure to stop back and join us on our adventures!

Come Sail Away

Happy Friyay!!!!  Today we are going away on our Family vacation!  Last year we took a road trip down the Southeast Coast to Virginia Beach making stops along this way.  This year we are going up to the Northeast Coast to New Hampshire and Maine!  I've never been to main so we are so excited to explore with the kids!  I've heard amazing things about Maine.

In my last blog post I talked about our family sail on my parents' boat!  We had so much fun!  Since I've been talking about style on and off throughout my blog I wanted to let you all know what I wore on our sail.

We had a beautiful day although quite windy!  I usually like to stay as comfortable as possible.  For this trip I opted for a cute striped romper (similar) with a utility vest (similar).  I'm slightly obsessed with my utility vest and wear it every chance I get.  I promise, it goes with just about anything!  I also tend to love stripes with a utility vest or jacket.

*Size small in all clothing. Size 5 sneaks*

My Adidas Superstar sneakers were snagged at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  I LOVE them.  They are comfy and stylish.  As I'm writing this they don't have them in white anymore so I linked them in black.  Remember to size down 0.5 to 1 size down since they run large.  I wear a 6 but purchased a 5.  Similar styles are here (love them with gold stripes) and here.

Have a great weekend!!!  Hope it's filled with fun and adventure!

Weekend Musings: Family Sail & #NSale

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  It was rainy and or cloudy most of the weekend so we did a lot of staying indoors.  However, the sun did shine for part of Saturday morning so it gave us a chance to go out on my parents' sail boat!

The boys had a great time on the boat!  Little J has been on the boat many times but I think this is the first time Little T realized what was going on!  He did a lot of exploring and we did a lot of hanging on to him.  All we lost was a snack cup which flew into the water so all in all was successful outing!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

So, there has been a lot of talk about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, aka the #NSale.  I bought a bunch of items however, my favorites and my likely to use the most are not the typical clothing items.

I never really purchase myself Pajamas or bras often.  I also hate spending a ton of money on those items for some reason.  However, I found the cutest PJ's at the #NSale.  I purchased this PJ Salvage Top (Small) and this PJ Salvage shorts (Medium).  They are on regular rotation and I can tell you they are so comfy!  I'm also going to purchase the pants as well!

Great bras are a must and good ones are an investment!  If you are not sure of your size it's always helpful to go into the store so you can get properly measured.  I used to go to a shop in NYC which did great bra measurements.  Since then I've been able to correctly size myself at any retailer.  I purchased this black,  this cafe, and this gunmetal Natori Bra.  You can't beat these prices (between 30%-40% off) and the black Natori bra I have in the Caramel color from a previous purchase.  It's so pretty, supportive, and comfy!

There are so many great buys at this years #NSale!  You can really stock up your closet with some great Fall styles, some which you can start wearing right away and transition into the cooler weather.  It's really worth a look!  I even bought some great things for the kids and hubby!

Here are some other items I'm loving at the #NSale:

Go take a peek before it's over on August 8th!
